The head coach of the intermediate Leopards of DR Congo, Florent Ibenge Ikwange and four of his players have tested Positive for Covid-19.
DR Congo will face the Mediterranean knights of Libya this Thursday at the Japoma Stadium, in a game that could hand them a quarter final ticket, in case of a win.
Just hours to the game, Ghanian sports journalist Nuhu Adams is reporting that Florent Ibenge Ikwange and four of his players notably Goalkeeper Ley Matampi, Guy Serge Mukumi Mulamba, Doxa Gikanji and Andy Bikoko Lobulka, have tested Positive for Covid-19.
During his pre_match press conference on Wednesday, Ibenge lamented the fact that the results of the covid-19 test they did on Tuesday were taking long to come out, making it difficult for him to know the exact situation of his team.
“We did the tests yesterday Tuesday but in the training of this morning we do not know which players we are going to align because we do not have the results yet, “he said too the press in Douala on Wednesday.
Mean while the five other players who missed their first game against Congo Brazzaville, have now tested negative and available for selection. They include TP Mazembe’s duo Issama Mpeko and Kinzumbi Philippe.
So Florent Ibenge Ikwange, goalkeeper Ley Matampi, Guy Serge Mukumi Mulamba, Doxa Gikanji and Andy Bikoko Lobulka are set to miss the leopards game this Thursday against Libya.
