The Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo, have welcomed back lead trainer Florent Ibenge Ikwange and three players, who have recovered from the Covid-19 virus.
Ibenge and a majority of his players missed their last Group B game last Monday in Yaoundé against Niger, as they were on self Isolation, after testing positive for covid-19.
According to the official website of the Congolese football federation (www.fecofa-rdc.com), Florent Ibenge, and three players notably Goalkeepers Matampi Ley, Guy Serge Mukumi Mulamba and Midfielder Doxa Gikanji, have all recovered and trained with the rest of the Squad on Wednesday evening at the Annex of the Japoma Stadium.
According to Doctor Jean-Pierre Bungu Kakala, team Doctor for the Leopards, nine other players are still under observation. Out of the nine, three are on self Isolation in Yaoundé, while six are on quarantine in Douala, while awaiting further test.
The players still under observation, includes the likes of
Issama Mpeko, Kinzumbi Philippe, Andy Bikoko Lobulka, amongst others. It therefore means that coach Florent Ibenge has 24 players available for selection, out of a 33_man Squad that he brought along to Cameroon.
The team will undergo another Covid-19 test this Thursday, ahead of their Saturday quarter final game against host, Cameroon at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.
