Portugal coach Antonio Conceicao Da Silva extended his contract with Cameroon until 2023, the Cameroon football federation confirmed on Friday.
Antonio Conceicao joined the indomitable lions replacing Clarence Seedorf in 2019 after Nigeria eliminated Cameroon 3-2 in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations 2019
The 59-year-old manager has not won any trophy with the national team yet but has been impressive in his last 10 games in charge with 4 wins 5 draws and one defeat
The previous contract was stipulated to end in July 2021. Present for the contract was the president of the Cameroon Football Federation Seidou Mbombo Njoya in the office if the Minister of sports and physical education Narcise Mouelle Kombi as the supervisor
Apart from Antonio Conceicao, the contracts of assistant coach Oman Biyik and goalkeeper coach Jacques Songo have been extended until 2023
Cameroon will host the 2021 Africa football Jamboree, largely known as the Totalenegies Africa Cup of Nations and much is expected from the Portuguese tactician to keep the trophy at home.
In this term Conceicao will also need to qualify the Lions to the 2022 world Cup which will be played in Qatar
