🇨🇲Elite One: Fortuna brings down Avion to go top of pool A

Fortuna are temporarily pool A leaders for at least 24 hours

AS Fortuna has beaten Avion Academy of Nkam 2#0, in an advanced day three game of the Cameroon Elite One Championship. The game was played at the Annex one Stadium in Yaoundé, on Saturday afternoon.

An early goal from Emmanuel Franck Beken and a late first half penalty from Ako Assomo Loïc, ensured that fortuna remains unbeaten in their first three games of the season.

Fortuna dominated the game from kick-off, and had a breakthrough in the first quarter, when Emmanuel Franck Beken’s well taken strike got goalkeeper Arnaud Fotso beaten.

Lionel Christian Ateba, Ignace Thierry Etoungou and Ako Assomo led all the offensives for Fortuna, with Louiz Tazoh being a live wire.

Continuous pressure from Fortuna won them a penalty late in the first segment, and newly summoned Indomitable lion, Ako Assomo Loïc made no mistake from 12 yards, as he ensured a two goals lead for the home side at pause.

Four minutes into the second half, Emmanuel Franck Beken again found the back of the net, but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Goalkeeper Arnaud Fotso was the most sollicited throughout the game, as he pulled a stunning save at the 54th minute, to thwart away Emmanuel Beken’s thumping header.

As Avion Mount press after an hour mark, Fortuna make a tactical substitution, taking our Lionel Christian Ateba, and bringing on a more defensive option in Zacharie Ndongo Foe.

For Avion, Fotso Poung Fessi was subbed off for Niboyom Fone.

After a solid performance and hat trick against Dragon on match day two, Mfegue Georges and his teammates failed to get 1 consolatory goal, as they suffered their second defeat of the season.

The win means AS Fortuna has temporarily gone top of pool A for at least 24 hours. The have seven points from three games, one ahead of Bamboutos FC of Mbouda, who will play Stade Renard of Melong on Sunday.
