🇨🇲Elite One: Ngon A Tiati haunts  former employers, as Astres returns to the top tier in defeat

Astres football Club of Douala has suffered a 0#1 defeat from Canon of yaounde, in the first game of their return to the Cameroon top flight Football.

Former Astres forward now in the books of Canon, Marius Ngon A Tiati, scored the lone goal of the game at the fifth minute, to secure all three points for the Kpa Kum.

The Brazilians of Bepanda under the command of U17 lions head coach, Anicet Mbarga Foe, failed to live up to expectations. Last seasons top scorer with PWD, Leon Boyomo, made his competetive debut for Astres, but failed to produce a single shot on target in 90 minutes.

The closest the Brazilians came in the game, was when Goalkeeper James Djaoyong of Canon produced a fine save down his left, to stop a diving header from substitute Jean Simplice Mbang.

Ngon A Tiati’s early goal earned canon their first win of the season

Anicet Mbarga Foe had few options to choose in Sundays game, with just one out field player on the reserve bench, alongside second Goalkeeper, Cedric Djomo. The tactician explained post match that his team had seven Positive covid-19 cases prior to the game.

We wanted to start the competition on a good footing, but unfortunately we fell in the hands of a good Canon side, who exploit the chance the had early in the game. We tried to push them till the end, but unfortunately luck was not on our side”, Anicet Mbarga Foe told the press.

We played this game with just one substitute, due to the fact that seven of our players tested positive for covid-19 and we were obliged to remove them from our match day Squad. It was the first game, we will prepare to face our next opponents, he added.

Games in the Cameroon league one Championship are played behind closed doors due to the covid-19 pandemic. Apart from Astres, Union of Douala, and Avion of Nkam had four Positive cases each, and all suffered defeats to Djiko FC and Bamboutos respectively.

The game YOSA vs Tonnerre Kalara club scheduled for the YOSA Stadium in Bamenda, did not hold, as visiting TKC failed to present covid-19 results for their squad.
