AS Fortuna of Mfou has beaten Eding Sport of the Lekie 2#0, in a day one game of the Cameroon league one Championship. The game was played at the Yaoundé Omnisport Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
A brace from Franck Thierry Etouga was enough to secure all three points for Fortuna, as Turkish defender Gengizhan Aydin made his debut for Eding.
A blistering start to the game saw AS Fortuna taking the lead at the second minute, from the penalty spot through Franck Thierry Etouga, after goalkeeper Marcelin Mbahbi brought down a fortuna player in his penalty area.
Eding Sport had half chances to draw the game level, but Figo Edjimbi and mates failed to concretize.
Eding’s Turkish defender, Gengizhan Aydin had a tough start in the cameroon professional league, and his misplaced back pass at the 40th minute gifted Fortuna their second goal of the game, as Franck Thierry Etouga fired in his second of the game.
After the pause, coach François Heya of Eding Sport subbed off, Figo Edjimbi and Romeo Ekanga, and brought in Souley Badamassi and Franck Massoda, before captain Stephane Meyoupo later ceded his place to Erard Lissome.
For AS Fortuna Leonel Ateba replaced Franck Kouli Edy, while Zacharie Ndongo Foe was in to replace Romaric Messomo, as Fortuna looked to conserve their lead.
Fortuna looked the better side throughout the game, despite a lacklustre second segment, and deservedly picked their first three points of the Championship, ahead of a trip to Bamenda next weekend, to face defending Champions, PWD of Bamenda.
