🇨🇲Intermediate lions: 71 days in charge, what the stats say of Ndtoungou Mpile

Martin Ndtoungou Mpile is closing in on three months in office

The African Nations championship CHAN, kicks off in Cameroon in 15 days time, and all eyes will definitely be on the host Nation, Cameroon who will be gunning for their first ever silverware in that category.

At the time of writing this piece, it has been exactly 71 days since the Experienced Martin Ndtoungou Mpile was appointed head coach of the intermediate lions, replacing Yves Clement Arroga.

Ndtoungou Mpile’s appointment on November 21, 2020 raised a lot of eyebrows amongst football fanatics in Cameroon, as many argued that his appointment came at the wrong time, less than three months to the CHAN.

Since the Ndtoungou Mpile led technical staff assumed duty, much water has gone under the bridge. Less than two weeks to the start of the long awaited CHAN 2020, we take at look at how the intermediate lions have performed under the reign of the 62_year_old tactician.

The balance sheet under Ndtoungou Mpile reads thus, 11 matches played, six wins, four draws and one defeat.

The intermediate lions have faced foreign opponents on four occasions under Ndtoungou Mpile. Back to back games against Djibouti saw the lions recording one win and one draw, while their two games against two Equato Guinean sides, Futuro Kings and Akonangui FC all ended in an identical 1#1 score.

The lions have however flourished against local opponents, with sweeping wins against APEJES, Colombe, Canon, and Fortuna. So far, Stade Renard of Melong stands out as the only side to have beaten Ndtoungou Mpile’s version of the intermediate lions.
