Reports: Manchester United make final decision on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future ahead of Liverpool clash
According to various sources, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Manchester United will not be threatened even if Liverpool wins the upcoming Premier League clash against them at the Old Trafford next week.
In case you did not know, United are currently at 12th place in the 2019-20 Premier League, having won just two out of their eight matches so far (three defeats, three draws). In the Europa League group stage, they won their first game against Kazakhstan-based Astana by a scoreline of 1-0, but drew with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in their second game.
Altogether, Manchester United have played 21 matches across various competitions since Solskjaer was appointed their permanent manager in 2019 March. Of these 21 games, only five have been won by the Red Devils. They have also scored just 18 goals during this time frame.
However, according to Mirror, the Norwegian’s job at Old Trafford is safe, even if they suffer a heavy defeat against Liverpool in their upcoming Premier League clash.
To be honest, Liverpool are, in fact, the favourites to take home all three points from the contest, having remained undefeated in their ongoing league campaign so far.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have racked up all possible 24 points from their eight league matches till date this season, and are comfortably placed at the top of the table.
Pep Guardiola reveals which Manchester City star will not be sold for even €500m
Pep Guardiola has the luxury of serious squad depth at Manchester City, and certain young players may not be featuring in the starting eleven as much as most fans would have liked.
Despite stating that Phil Foden was one of his best players, Guardiola has been unable to field the youngster in his team on a regular basis, sparking rumours of a possible exit.
When asked about this, the Spanish manager insisted that Foden was not for sale at any cost.
“We didn’t give Foden a new contract by accident,” Guardiola said, as per The Sun.
‘You can’t win titles with young players’ – Pep Guardiola goes all Alan Hansen
“He is the only player that can’t be sold under any circumstances — the only one. Not even for 500m euros.
“Phil’s going nowhere — Phil is City. We won’t be signing anyone else for that position.
“When David Silva leaves, we know exactly who our new magician will be.
“He’s grown up with us. He’s one of us and he’s going to be brilliant — one of the Premier League’s best.
“One thing is clear, Foden has a place in City’s first team.
“I’d be interested to see if a different manager would have given him his chance to develop, or loaned him out.
“I don’t like leaving him out of certain games but must think of the whole squad. Phil understands that.”
Neymar reveals his future plans after failed transfer move
Neymar Jr possibly leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was the biggest saga of the summer transfer window, but rather extraordinarily, the Brazilian ended up staying at the Parisians.
A while on from the dramatic summer, Neymar has revealed that he did indeed want to leave, but is now focused on what he needs to do to help PSG remain at the top of Ligue 1.
“Everyone knows what happened in the summer market and the desire I had to leave,” he told reporters.
“Today, I feel happy and comfortable with the club, too. It’s not just with the national team that I’m happy. The season started out very well for me.
“I will defend my club tooth and nail. I will give 100 per cent for us to achieve great things.
Neymar says he’s ‘happy’ at PSG playing down exit fears
“It was a long summer for me. I knew that I had to prepare, in all circumstances, for a good season. Thank God, it has started well and I hope it stays that way.”
Barcelona looked the most likely to sign their former star once again, but Real Madrid were in the running as well, though both ended up being unsuccessful after PSG negotiated hard.
An injury to the superstar forward probably played a part in the deal not going through as well, and Neymar is adamant to end his injury woes once and for all.
“There have been more than three months of injury treatment in the last two years,” he said.
“This gets in the way of any athlete.
“But if you look at all the games and numbers you will see that I never stopped playing football. Unfortunately in an athlete’s life, this can occur. You have to have a good head and be prepared to go through it.
“My hope for this season is to stay fit, to hope that nothing bad happens.”
