FECAFOOT HEAD OFFICE

Amidst COVID 19, FIFA and CAF promised money to its Member Associations.  A promise that has not yet been materialized, leading to dissonant voices from the amateur club association.

In a public correspondence to FECAFOOT, ACEFAC ( The Association of Amateur Football Clubs of Cameroon) claims that money has come and other federations on the continent have received and shared, but in Cameroon, the federation has been silent over this financial assistance.

This complains comes in after the World Football governing body FIFA made a release on its website fifa.com on Friday, April 24, 2020, announcing the disbursement of the sum of 150 Million USD to all 211 member associations to assist the football community which has been affected negatively by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a press release on May 28, 2020 president Henri Balla Ongola of ACEFAC called on the heads of amateur clubs, members of ACEFAC, not to accept any donations from FECAFOOT, in as much as the behaviour of FECAFOOT looks more like a misappropriation of the subsidy that FIFA made available to member associations.

It’s in these moments where some try to cast doubts on the FA’s action that Parfait Siki, the communication boos came out to clarify public opinion.

“FECAFOOT just like the other world federations haven’t received a penny.
It is useful, in these times of all-out demands, to know that neither FECAFOOT nor any of the 211 member associations have received special COVID 19 support from FIFA. Similarly, CAF has so far paid no aid in connection with the COVID 19 to football federations in Africa”, said Parfait Siki.

He went on to explain that the aid received by football stakeholders especially players of the elite championships is a personal action from the Federation

“The support and solidarity actions of FECAFOOT for professional and amateur players are funded by the federal budget. As soon as FIFA or CAF support funds are available, FECAFOOT will make it a duty of transparency to report on its use for the benefit of football players”, he added”.

FECAFOOT has been one of the first federations in Africa to take action in the form of financial and material support of teams and players.

The COVID 19 pandemic has hit the world economy and football businesses are on the verge of collapsing worldwide. Financial aid from National, continental and world football governing body is meant to keep the game alive and active.

Going by the club, it is a daring challenge for him and the RFC Huy who will undoubtedly be a little thumbs up in D3 amateurs. The Mosan club relies on Bertin Tomou’s connections to, in part, build its core since the Hutois are in the process of developing their nucleus, an elaboration that takes shape behind the scenes but which is officially only in its infancy.
Born on August 8, 1978 in Bafoussam, Tomou started his career at PWD Bamenda between 1996 to 1997. In six appearances for the club, he score 14 goals. With a glaring talent, he left for East Asia in 1997 where he played for Pohang Steelers in South Korea, and then went to China in 1998.
From 1998 to 2005, he played for major teams in China but what made him more special was the fact that he received his first cap for Cameroon in 2004. Playing for the Cameroon national team for five years, he scored six goals in 20 appearances.
The 1.89 m later moved to Europe to play for Stade Brestois 29 in the French Ligue 2 in January 200 but his stay in France was just short leave as he moved to Belgium where he had been playing for more than 10 years.
