On Christmas holidays in Cameroon, the Cameroonian international from Ajax in Amsterdam, André Onana took advantage of his stay to share his experience as a goalkeeper and distill goalkeeping knowledge to some goalkeepers of Cameroon’s women championship.

Among others were: Ange Bawou, the present regular goalkeeper of the indomitable lionesses, Inès Bihina, Marina Ngo Esse, Nnanga Seme, Christelle Mouagueu, Biya, Amougou, Nelly Karis and Christelle Beyala. We noted the absence of Ngo Ndom, the former incumbent in this position at the national team of Cameroon.
The 2h30 minutes session took place at the annex stadium in Yaoundé. A great initiative indeed as the goalkeeping position is one of the weak points in women’s football.

Tokyo 2020 Olympics Qualifiers :Indomitable lionesses call for massive support from fans
Cameroon’s indomitable lionesses face Zambia’s copper queens today in the first leg of their last game on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The players and staff are confident of the outcome of the game and call upon Cameroonians to massively come to push their team to victory at the Amadou Ahidjo stadium come 3;30pm local time.
Estelle Johnson: We need everybody to come out and support us one last time
Cameroon’s central back, Estelle Johnson calls on popular support that has never failed the team: “We know that they’re fast. We know that they’re talented and as all other teams in Africa but obviously they’re here for a reason and so are we, so we just want to make sure we stop them playing their best game, and we play ours.
We just need the support of the fans. It’s been amazing so far in the previous stages of the eliminations. We need everybody to come out and support us one last time and hope we will put on a good show.”
Aboudi Onguene: “I have never seen a team so conscious”
Cameroon’s team captain, Aboudi Onguene is confident and talks of the team’s spirit.
“We have players who are conscious and know what they want and what is most important. Our greatest motivation is to get to the Olympic Games for a second. With such a mentality we only have to demonstrate it on the pitch. We are eager to get on the pitch, and we know what we have to do. We’re playing at home, and we have to do everything to score as many goals as possible and concede the least. I have never seen a team so conscious and knowing what they want.”
Coach Alain Djeumfa: We want the player in form who can perform and deliver immediate results
Flora Kameni has been chosen to be cameroon’s centre forward in place of Alexandre Takounda. Kameni is Cameroons’s Women league top goal scorer with 21 goals and her present form is just what the coach is in search of.
Coach Alain Djeumfa: We want the player in form who can perform and deliver immediate results. Takounda wasn’t retained in the final list of 18 players as another striker was preferred considered better.
Meyong charlene: I’m not afraid of Zambia. I will give the best of myself. It will be a great grace to win this game and play the Olympic Games for the first time.
