Cameroon’s indomitable lionesses face Zambia’s copper queens today in the first leg of their last game on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The players and staff are confident of the outcome of the game and call upon Cameroonians to massively come to push their team to victory at the Amadou Ahidjo stadium come 3;30pm local time.
Estelle Johnson: We need everybody to come out and support us one last time
Cameroon’s central back, Estelle Johnson calls on popular support that has never failed the team: “We know that they’re fast. We know that they’re talented and as all other teams in Africa but obviously they’re here for a reason and so are we, so we just want to make sure we stop them playing their best game, and we play ours.
We just need the support of the fans. It’s been amazing so far in the previous stages of the eliminations. We need everybody to come out and support us one last time and hope we will put on a good show.”
Aboudi Onguene: “I have never seen a team so conscious”
Cameroon’s team captain, Aboudi Onguene is confident and talks of the team’s spirit.
“We have players who are conscious and know what they want and what is most important. Our greatest motivation is to get to the Olympic Games for a second. With such a mentality we only have to demonstrate it on the pitch. We are eager to get on the pitch, and we know what we have to do. We’re playing at home, and we have to do everything to score as many goals as possible and concede the least. I have never seen a team so conscious and knowing what they want.”
Coach Alain Djeumfa: We want the player in form who can perform and deliver immediate results
Flora Kameni has been chosen to be cameroon’s centre forward in place of Alexandre Takounda. Kameni is Cameroons’s Women league top goal scorer with 21 goals and her present form is just what the coach is in search of.
Coach Alain Djeumfa: We want the player in form who can perform and deliver immediate results. Takounda wasn’t retained in the final list of 18 players as another striker was preferred considered better.
Meyong charlene: I’m not afraid of Zambia. I will give the best of myself. It will be a great grace to win this game and play the Olympic Games for the first time.

Ashtown Ladies FC set to redeem image in a derby clash
One of the oldest Female teams in Ghana, Ashtown Ladies FC will reckon horns with City rivals Fabulous Ladies FC.
The Reds having lost their opener in the 2019/20 National Women’s League, will be hoping to redeem image in a regional derby when they come up against Fabulous Ladies at the Paa Joe Park.
The encounter is slated for Sunday, January 26, 2020 at exactly 3pm.
Ashtown Ladies FC after losing 5-0 to tough opponent Ampem Darkoa Ladies last week, have restructured the playing body to spell doom on Fabulous Ladies FC.
The clash which goes down to be one of the oldest rivalries in the Women’s Division, will be difficult for both clubs.
Ashtown Ladies despite playing at home in their second league fixture will not have it with ease, since Fabulous Ladies are also keen on recording first win of the season.
Fabulous Ladies prior to this game, lost at home to Pearl Pia Ladies.
Ashtown Ladies, playing at home has sight set on beating Fabulous Ladies to bounce back to winning ways.
Regardless of the poor start for Ashtown Ladies, old time rivalry will rekindle with both teams. The home team will be hoping to prove superiority over the visiting team but that not withstanding, it is also an opportunity for Fabulous Ladies to also get back to winning ways.
A very tough game and a rivalry match indeed.
Game kick-off is exactly 3pm local time in Ghanaô
