CAF Champions League: Japoma Stadium Bid’s To Host Caf Champions League Finals

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the three official bids submitted in relation to hosting the 2019/2020 Champions League final, and also the lone bid launched for the Confederation Cup

Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) under the leadership of Prince Seydou Mbombouo Njoya officially submitted a bid to host the finals of the CAF Champions League. The modern Japoma Stadium in the city of Douala was summited to CAF to host the event

The format of the CAF Champions League final has changed this season where the winner is decided through only one game.

The final is set to take place on 29 May as the venue for the game is yet to be determined by CAF.

It was rumored that Rwanda, along with Morocco and Tunisia, has bid to host the final of the most prestigious African club competition. However, and contrary to initial reports, it was confirmed that Cameroon, Morocco, and Tunisia are the official bidders.

The battle to host the final will be between Cameroon’s Japoma Stadium, Mohammed V Sports Stadium in Morocco and Tunisia’s Rades Olympic Stadium.

Meanwhile, the only bid submitted for the Confederation Cup final was from Morocco, specifically Moulay Abdellah Sports Stadium in Rabat.

“A final decision is expected to be made by the CAF Emergency Committee on 12 March 2020,” CAF stated.

Cairo Derby drama has roots !!!

Cairo Derby Super Cup

The accelerating events of the last two nights in Cairo … have ancient roots, which we explain in details here

It started with the EFA announcing that the draw for the 2019/2020 season fixtures will not be seeded like previous seasons and Al-Ahly and Zamalek game may be in any week , not the last week as usual … Draw resulted in fixing the match in W4 of the competition!

However, the match was postponed due to Al-Ahly and Zamalek’s CAF appointments .. Al-Ahly had issued an official statement announcing that they would not play any games before confronting Zamalek !!
However, it was not possible to determine a date soon for the postponed match, which prevented playing the game. Al-Ahly had to play its matches after the Minister of Sports went to visit Al-Ahly’s president to persuade him to play the matches that Al-Ahly announced abstaining , was against Mokawlon SC.
EFA then postponed all league matches until the end of AFCON U23 Championship, on the pretext that the Egyptian team needed to gather a month before the championship !!!

READ   CAF Champions League: Kotoko hopeful of a bright start against Kano Pillars

After the tournament, EFA fixed February 24th for the postponed match from of W4 .. i.e it will be played at the end of the first round of EPL as usual !!!

At that time, it was not known to anyone which teams will qualify from the group stage to the CAF QF or its fixtures of the continental Champions League !!

After Zamalek and Al-Ahly qualified for the quarter-finals and the date for the African Super Cup was decided, the situation became as follows :-
Zamalek should play the African Super Cup against Tunisia’s Esperance in Qatar on February 14th, then the Egyptian Super Cup against Al-Ahly in Emirates on February 20th, then return to Cairo on 22th to play the W4 Egyptian League match against Al-Ahly on 24 !!!! Before facing Esperance again in the Champions League on the 28th of the same month, then would travel to Tunisia to face Esperance again on 5 or 6 March !!!!!

What mind that binds a team of human players with all these derby class games in two weeks time !!!

We may disagree a lot with the controversial president of Zamalek, but if we place ourselves in the decision-making position, we will not find a way without going off-course!

Therefore, the drama that took place yesterday in the Cairo derby game was an extension of the contradictions and the lack of a future vision for the temporary administration of EFA !
