From all indications, Zambia are the big weights in Group D.
The chipolopolo will be making their 4th appearance in the Africa nations championship in Cameroon.
The selection’s greatest record was in 2009,in Côte d’ivore when they finished 3rd in the tournament’s maiden edition .
Since then the former KK 11 haven’t got the chance to cross the group stages.
A story line, almost identical to that of Guinea.
After taking part in the 2 previous CHAN competitions , the Syli nationale had the opportunity to salvage a 4th spot in 2016 in Rwanda.
In their third attempt this year, they will obviously want to do better. But that will require enough strength to conquer 2018 quarter finalists Namibia.
Haven’t featured once in the jamboree, the brave warriors stood their grounds among power houses in Morocco 2 years ago. They are poised to go beyond this time around.
Last but not the least in the pool, is Tanzania. The Taifa stars will be making their come back to the CHAN eleven years after. They were eliminated in the first round in 2009 during their first ever participation.
Although considered no names in the group , Tanzania may just be the superlative revelation in Limbe during the soccer fiesta.
CHAN: CAF Postpones 2020 African Nations Championship To January 2021
By Elvis Kang Sports Writer, Cameroon
Following the same trend as sports organizers across the globe, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) until January 2021.
The 2020 CHAN was initially scheduled in Cameroon between April 4 and 25, 2020
CAF had suspended all their competitions since March due to the coronavirus outbreak with over 393,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa.
The decision announced on Tuesday, June 30 via a video conference by the CAF Executive Committee after due consultation with stakeholders and taking into consideration the current global situation, the tournament has been rescheduled for January 2021 came amid global fears from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The CAF cited “health concerns” as the reason behind the postponement.

The president of the Confederation of African Football Ahmad Ahmad expresses satisfaction with Cameroon authorities for their commitment to host the tournament and also says Cameroon is ready to host the competition and are within schedule.
The CAF Executive Committee also held a meeting on Tuesday, 30 June 2020 via video-conference to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on African football and other related issues like Africa Cup of Nations, AWCON, CAF Champions League, CAF Cup semi-finals and new competition women’s Champions League in 2021
The Cameroon national team qualified for the competition as host and The intermediate Lions are set to compete in Group A of the tournament, alongside Mali, Burkina Faso, and Zimbabwe.
Morocco remains the title-holder of the competition, having won the 2018 CHAN, held in Morocco.
CHAN 2020: know Group C teams
Group C is certainly one of the most difficult pools in the 2020 CHAN. It is comprised of current cup holders, Morocco, old timers Uganda, Rwanda and new comers Togo.
The wish of each of the teams is to progress to the next stage of the competition after the first round.
From a panoramic view, the Atlas lions are tipped favourites having won the tournament in 2018 at home. Added to their 4 times participation, the north Africans were once quarter finalists in 2014.
geting to the group’s summit Morocco will need to break several walls including that of Rwanda.
The Amavoubi can so far boost of 4 qualification tickets. Their best performance ever dates back to 2014 when they were knocked out at the quarter final stage on home ground.
Uganda is undoubtedly the oldest in the house. Their expedition to Cameroon this year is the 5th in a row.
But Surprisingly the Cranes have never gone passed the group stage , in previous editions.
While the east Africans will be hoping on experience to create an impact, the sparrowhawks of Togo will be making their debut in the tournament.
Though regarded as underdogs, the west Africans may just turn out being, the astonishing elements.
Matches of this group will unfold in the inner bowl of the Douala reunification stadium.
CHAN 2020: Host Cameroon takes measures against importation of coronavirus
Through a Fax-Message to all foreign embassies, Cameroon’s Minister of foreign affairs, Mbella Mbella has asked Cameroonian embassies abroad to include into the visa requirements, the production a Test Result to the COVID-19.
Thus, all participants, (players, officials, media etc..) coming to Cameroon for the CHAN 2020 competition will have to “test negative” to the coronavirus before being granted an entry visa.
The Coronavirus pandemic has been spreading worldwide and has hit a number of sporting events in the world which have been suspended or postponed indefinitely.
The competition is scheduled to take place in 3 cities in Cameroon from April 4th to 25th and doubts are setting in as CAF has indefinitely postponed the qualifiers of the 2021 AFCON which is equally going to be hosted in Cameroon.
