Coronavirus: Lewandowski follows Goretzka and Kimmich with donation

Bayern Munich’s players have raised €2million euros to fight coronavirus following donations from Robert Lewandowski and Joshua Kimmich.

Robert Lewandowski and his wife Anna followed Bayern Munich stars Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich in making a donation towards the fight against coronavirus, pledging one million euros to charity.

Goretzka and Kimmich set up a fund called ‘We Kick Corona’, to which they made a joint donation of one million euros.

After making an equal donation, the Lewandowskis told Bild they hoped life would soon return to normal.

“We are all aware of the difficult situation around us,” they said.

“Today we all play as a team. Let us be strong in this fight. If we can help someone, do it.

“This situation affects all of us, so we ask that you follow the instructions and listen to those who are most aware. Show responsibility!

“We believe that we will soon return to our normal life. We are in this situation together and we are through it together.”

We Kick Corona is inviting charities and social institutions to apply for funds from the €2.5m it has raised, and Kimmich echoed Lewandowski’s call for solidarity.

“Everyone can help, both in small and large ways,” said Kimmich.

“Only if we stand together now, show reason and responsibility and are there for each other can we make it out of this crisis.”

Bundesliga: Leroy Sane Returns Home And Signs A 5 Years Deal With Bayern Munich

Leroy Sane'

The German international Leroy Sane returns home and signed 5 years deal with the Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich this Friday 3 July 2020 after a contract talks between him and the management of Manchester city failed to push through

According to Sky Sports and the BBC, the Bundesliga champions did not give the transfer fee, Bayern and City agreed on a fee of £54.8 million. But German daily Bild claim the fee is around 50 million euros.

The 24-year-old spent four years at City, winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups, and two Community Shields, but European success eluded him.

His transfer became an open secret as Guardiola revealed earlier this week that Sane was likely to leave after rejecting a new contract offer with a year left on his existing deal at City.

Sane scored 39 goals in 135 appearances in all competitions for City after joining from Bundesliga club Schalke in 2016.

His arrival on Wednesday in Bavaria was much hyped with reporters at Munich airport using smartphones to film the landing of a private jet from England before Sane was whisked away for his medical.

Leroy Sane now targeted Champions League glory with Bayern Munich after joining the Bundesliga giants from Manchester City

It should be noted that He is not eligible to feature in this Saturday’s German Cup final against Bayer Leverkusen in Berlin but will start preparing for the 2020/21 season next week, the club has said.

Sane has 21 caps and five goals for Germany but was a shock omission from the squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia when the holders bowed out in the group stage.

Sane is Bayern’s third new signing for next season alongside French teenage defender Tanguy Nianzou Kouassi from Paris Saint-Germain and goalkeeper Alexander Nuebel from Schalke, both of which were free transfers.
