Frenchman Herve Renard says he will love to return to Ghana and help the “black stars” win the Africa cup of nations.

The 51 year old was deputy to Claude Le Roy when the “Black stars” won third place at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Ghana.

The two time AFCON winning coach was speaking to TV 3 ‘s Juliet Jawuah as he revealed his intentions to lead the “black stars” to glory in the AFCON ones again.

“Yes I have to come back one day to help one country to win. That country haven’t won it for a long time and that is your country Ghana. I will love to win this feat with the black stars”, he said.

It should be noted that Herve Renard has prevented Ghana from winning the AFCON twice, the first time he stopped Ghana from glory was in 2012 in charge of Zambia as the “chipolopolo” beat Ghana in the semi finals of the 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea as Zambia went all the way to lift the trophy.

Also, the 51 year old stopped Ghana ones again in the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea as Renard’s Ivory Coast beat Ghana in the final after post match penalties.

Ghana came close to win the AFCON in three different editions since 1982 that is 1992, 2010, & 2015.

After winning the AFCON with Ivory Coast and Zambia,  Herve Renard guided Morocco to the 2018 FIFA World cup in Russia but couldn’t make it to the round of 16 couple with a disappointing outing at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt,  his spell with the “Atlas lions” ended in June 2019.

Currently,  Renard is in charge with the Saudi Arabia national team.
