The former Young African Sc coach, Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic had this to say over his African experience:
I’m already twenty years in African football and I have been in nine countries. Out of nine countries, only two have been in South Africa in south, Egypt in the North and for the rest, I have been throughout the CECAFA region, I proudly count myself as a CECAFA product.
I know what Simba and Yanga means. It’s among one of the Five biggest Derbies in Africa. I was coach of Orlando pirates and never lost against Kaizer Chiefs F.C.
I have been coach for Al Hilal and played against El Merreikh, Zamalek and against Al ahly in Egypt, S.t George vs Coffee in Ethiopia and Sc villa against Express in Uganda.
But I can tell you that the passion you Tanzanians feel towards the game is real. Football is like a second religion to you and whenever I go to Europe and people ask me which country according to you is the most passionate? I always take Tanzania as a role model and positive example.
I remember one situation when Liverpool and Manchester United played but at the same time the national stadium in Dar es salaam was full. This was something special and shows how much you love the game, living for the game.
It’s also a huge asset, motivation for the rest of us in Africa because you are a real role model and positive example of how football is supposed to be loved.
I respect and Love Tanzania. Look for example the way you are growing your players. I have sympathy when I watch Aston Villa and I see Mbwana samata playing there.
On my side, I think Tanzanian football is growing. Last season, Simba sc reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. You hosted and had good squad at the U17 Afcon final phase.
Tanzanians need to look every time and every year to have a team at the Champions League and CAF confederation cup. This is the standard they need to follow.
