AWCON: CAF cancels the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2020.

The CAF exco have confirmed the cancellation of the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a video conference held today June 30, 2020. 

36 teams were to battle for a spot in the number one women’s football competition in the continent but due to the outbreak of COVID-19,  no qualifying match have been played so far couple with the fact that no host have been identified ever since Congo withdrew from hosting the tournament.

With tournament originally programmed for November this year, limited time to complete the qualifiers,  get a new host plus the time for the final draw caused CAF to sacrifice this year’s edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

It should be noted that 12 teams were to participate in this year’s edition instead of the normal 8 of the past editions.

Also,  the CAF women’s champions league will be launched in 2021.  The format and other details will be communicated in due course.

Cameroon football: Indomitable Lionesses finally get a game

After over 1 year of no football as a national team together, the indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon will finally be back in action on the 1st of June 2018 when they take on Congo Brazzaville in the first leg of the 2nd of the qualifiers for the 2018 African women nations cup in Ghana.

Since the 1 nil defeat to Nigeria in the final on the 3rd of December 2016 on home soil and the subsequent appointment of Joseph Ndoko to take over from Enow Ngachu (now General manager of the national football academy doped ANAFOOT),the Female national team of Cameroon has been on an unwanted long Holiday but with another major competition beckoning, Cameroon that was not involved in the first round qualifiers will play a 2 leg qualifiers with the away leg billed for Brazzaville on the 1st June 2018 and the return leg in Yaoundé on the 9th of June 2018.

Fearless indomitable lionesses in the like sof Aboudi Onguene to face Congo

Joseph Ndoko, former head coach of Aigle Royal will better assess the team he has inherited in this 2 games while hoping he qualifies the country for the tournament in Ghana.

Vice champions Cameroon, Champions Nigeria, Semi finalist South Africa,Equatorial Guinea returning from suspension and host Ghana were exempted from the first round of the qualifiers.
While Mali has backed out from the tournament.

Cameroon has given Joseph Ndoko the task to qualify the for the 5th AWCON tournament after that of 1991,2004,2014,2016.

The Gaelle Enganamouit,Nchout Ajara,Gabriel Aboudi,Christine Mani generation is arguably the best the nation has put together and the nation expect a lot this time around.
