Indomitable lions captain, Vincent Aboubakar hits another milestone in his international career as he becomes the first player to score more than five goals in the AFCON since Benni McCarthy who scored seven goals in the 1998 edition.
Vincent Aboubakar scored his sixth goal of the tournament at the 70th minute, benefiting from a Martin Hongla assist.
Before then, Karl Toko had put the host in front earlier in the first half.
The Comoros however, got a goal at the 81st minute from Changama.
-Vincent Aboubakar becomes the first Cameroonian footballer to score more than five goals in the AFCON, so passing the record created by the Great Samuel Eto’o who scored five in 2008.
-He goal against the Comoros means he has now equals Patrick Mboma’s record of the third all time top scorer of the indomitable Lions with 33 goals each. Only Omam Biyik and Samuel Eto’o have scored more than the former Besiktas forward.
-He also becomes the first Cameroonian footballer to score four consecutive AFCON matches.
He is just three goals away from breaking the record set by Dr Congo’s Ndaye Mulamba who is still the only player to score nine goals in a single AFCON.
Next stop for Vincent Aboubakar and his teammates is against the scorpions of Gambia who eliminated Guinea in the first game of the day.
