Indomitable lions Captain, Vincent Aboubakar has been named the best player and best scorer of the group stage of the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa cup of nations.
The Al Nassr forward scored five goals during the group stage, making him the current top scorer of the tournament with five goals. With two goals clear off Mali’s Ibrahima Kone.
The former Besiktas forward also made history for himself, as breaks the record held by the great Samuel Eto’o in 2008, by becoming the second Cameroon footballer to score in three successive group stage matches, and the second Cameroon footballer to score five goals in a single AFCON tournament.
The five goals scored by the 2017 AFCON winner, means he has now scored 32 goals in 83 appearances for his country, and he is the fourth all time top scorer of the indomitable Lions. Only Patrick Mboma (33 goals), Omam Biyik (45goals) and the great Samuel Eto’o (56goals).
Vincent Aboubakar looks to continue his goalscoring form when Cameroon takes on debutant, Comoros in their round of 16 clash on Monday January 24, 2022 at the Olembe Sports Complex in Yaounde.
