Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign came to a humiliating end as they were beaten 3-2 by debutants Comoros to finish bottom of Group C with just a single point.
El Fardou Ben Mohamed scored Comoros’ first ever goal at the tournament before Ahmed Mogni added a second just past the hour-mark. Goals from Richmond Boakye and Alexander Djiku leveled the game up for Ghana, but Mogni grabbed a winner with five minutes remaining to end any hopes of a miraculous comeback.
El Fardou was awarded man of the match for his goal and one assist and after the award, he had this to say
” We are proud to make this result you know because when we played the first two games. we wanted to make something and today we played our football and this victory is for our fans and I am proud of the team”
“We hope that we can qualify but if we do not qualify, we can be proud of ourselves and I hope that we can continue like that and we will see the next Africa cup of nations”
“This Victory is for our fans, continue to support us I am very proud of everybody”
Morocco topped Group C with seven points, followed by Gabon on five, who also advance to the second round. Comoros has an outside chance of being among the best third-placed finishers, though their minus-two goal difference will likely count against them.
