Ajax To Appeal 1 year Ban Slammed on Onana

The club (Ajax) believes her player wouldn't engage in such practices knowingly!

Ajax has officially aired that the club will legally contest their goalkeeper, Andre Onana’s ban, mysoccer24.com gathered from a club official print that clearly passes the message across of Ajax to appeal the 12 month ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Read managing director Edwin Van der Sar : “…it was arguably not intended to strengthen his body and thus improve his performance.”

It is reported that on the morning of 30 October Onana did not feel well. He wanted to take a tablet. He however, mistakenly had Lasimac, a drug that his wife had previously been prescribed.

The club clearly thinks Onana made a mistake with the product and unwittingly took his wife’s medicine, which made him gullible to UEFA’s action against the goalkeeper. The football association’s disciplinary body ruled that he did not intend to cheat. However, the European Football Association believes that, according to the prevailing anti-doping rules, an athlete has a duty at all times to ensure that no prohibited substances enter the body.

The suspension is effective as of February 5, and will apply to all football activities at both national and international level.

Onana as it stands will miss next year’s African Nations Cup Cameroon are to host, and some important games for his side Ajax.
