President of Ghana Premier League side King Faisal, Alhaji Karim Grusah has blamed head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars – Kwesi Appiah for the relinquish of Asamoah Gyan.
Ghana’s all time leading goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan on Monday, shockingly announced his retirement from the Black Stars following two pages statement release.
Gyan, has scored 8 goals in six different AFCON tournament since making his national debut in 2003. And has his name in the record books, having registered 51 goals in 106 appearance for the Black Stars.
The 33-year-old forward was expected to be named in the coming days for the 2019 African Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt. Shocking and surprisely, he announced his decision to call it a quit.
Which Alhaji Karim Grusah, bank roller of King Faisal puts all blame at the door step of the head coach, James Kwesi Appiah.
“I will blame Akwasi Appiah for Asamoah Gyan’s premature retirement because you have not named your squad for the tournament so why do u call him on the captaincy issue”.
“Asamoah Gyan has been in the team for so many years but has not won any trophy for the Nation so he can go”, Grusah said in an interview with Kumasi-based Ashh FM.
“Akwesi Appiah made a very big mistake in talking to Asamoah Gyan about the captaincy because you have not named your squad for the tournament but you rush to talk about the captaincy which was wrong”, he added.
Gyan has captained the Black Stars for seven (7) years, Since 2012.
