After an underwhelming performance from the top scorer of the CHAN 2018 edition, Ayoub El Kaabi scored his 10th CHAN goal in a 5-2 win over the cranes of Uganda in their last group game at the Douala Reunification Stadium.
The cranes had taken the lead through Ibrahim Orit earlier in the first half but the Atlas lions were awarded a penalty at the latter stages of the first half, and mask man, Ayoub El Kaabi made no mistake as he scored the equalizing goal for Morocco.
The goal from the 2018 golden boot winner, means he has now increased his tally of the most goals scored in the CHAN with 10 goals.
In 2018, he surpass the previous record held by Zambia’s Given Singuluma who netted 5 goals in the inaugural edition in 2009.
With the possibility of playing another three matches before the competition comes to end, Ayoub El Kaabi might be Nick name “Mr CHAN” on grounds that he might score more goals before the competition comes to an end.
Morocco however won the match 5-2 with goals from Hamza El Mousaoui and a brace from Soufiance Rahimix.
Morocco finish top of group C with seven points and will have to play the runners up in group D in their quarter final fixture while 2016 host Rwanda finished runners up and will await the winners of group D in their quarter final fixture.
