Azam UPL: Sserunkuuma’s brace sees Vipers SC claim Top Spot

Heading into this contest, Coach Miguel da Costa urgued his troops to go for nothing less than a win.
Inspired by lethal striker Dan ” Mzee ” Sserunkuuma’s brace, the venoms overtook Sc Villa at the top of the log with 35 points now.
Vipers intentions were evident from the word go as they tore apart Mbarara City defence with a flurry of attacks.
In the 8th minute, the venoms tried a well worked freekick on the edge of the area but Yayo Lutimba‘s shot went inches wide.
In the 12th minute however, Erisa Sekisambu played in Dan Sserunkuuma who beat Mbarara fc goalie to his right with a midas touch.
Attacking relentlessly, Vipers Sports Club would have doubled their lead on the 21st minutes but Sekisambu’s shot was saved by the goal keeper after Waisswa’s pinpoint pass had left the visitors defence flat footed.
Vipers still possessed proceedings with Milton Kariisa tormenting his marker on the right wing.
On the 25th minute, the visitors succumbed to yet another attack and Dan Sserunkuuma was played in by Milton Kariisa to score his second of the evening placing the ball in similar fashion as the first goal.
After halftime, Mbarara City made some changes and grew into stature attacking Vipers and this saw midfielder Moses Waisswa getting injured as he tried to block Mbarara City players and was replaced by Franck ” Zaga ” Tumwesigye.
With the game even, Vipers was awarded a penalty when Kariisa was felled in the box. Up stepped Sserunkuuma aiming to register his first hattrick for the club but shot wide and the scores remained 2-0.
Injury concerns for the home team checked in as first choice goal keeper Ismael Watenga was carried off with a leg injury in additional minutes replaced by James Alitho.
Final whistle saw star man Sserunkuuma awarded with man of the match accolades.
