Barcelona Forward, Sergio Aguero Confirms Retirement From Football At 33 Due To Heart Issues.

Sergio Arguero has announced his retirement from football at 33 due to heart condition diagnosis.

Barcelona forward and former Manchester city record goalscorer,  Sergio Kun Arguero have announced his retirement from football due heart issues. 

This was during an emotional press conference at camp Nou on Wednesday.

According to Sky Sports, the Argentine suffered chest pains and dizziness during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Alaves in October;  the striker was ruled out for three months after a cardiac tests,  but has now decided to retire at 33.

Following the heart diagnosis,  the player could not return to the field again and had to go in for force retirement due to the diagnosis.




In an emotional press conference at nou camp officially announced his retirement from football.

“This conference is to communicate that I have decided to stop playing football. 

“it is a very difficult moment.  The decision I have made I have taken for my health,  that is the main reason,  because of the problem that I had a Month-and-half ago. 

Manchester city manager,  Pep Guadiola attended the press conference together with representatives from Arguero’s former clubs, while the club also paid tribute to the former legend.

Arguero began his career at Argentina club Independiente, scoring 23 goals between 2003-2006 before moving to Athlectico Madrid where he won the Europa league in 2010 and the UEFA super cup.  He scored 101 times for Athlectico in 234 appearances.

His brilliant form in Spain caught the attention of Manchester city who signed him in the summer of 2011. A went on to spend 10 years at the club,  scoring 260 goals in 390 appearances,  winning five premier league titles,  six league cup and an FA cup.

The 33-year-old also scored 42 goals for Argentina in 101 appearances, making him third highest goalscorer for the Argentina’s national team behind Lionel Messi and Gabriel Batisuta.

He was part of Argentina copa America triumph in June this year
