The Black Queens of Ghana recorded their first win in the West African Football Union (WAFU) Women’s Tournament in Côte D’Ivoire against Senegal at the Stade Robert Champroux.
The former champions of the WAFU tournament scored two goals in the dying minutes of the second half. Alice Kusi scored in the 74th minute to break the virginity of the game.
Top scorer in the FIFA U 17 Women’s World Cup, Mukarama Abdullai recorded her first goal for the Queens in a competitive game.
The Most Valuable Player of the game went to Black Queens attacker Jane Ayeyeam Egyir. In the post match reaction, the MVP player of the maiden edition revealed she was to win the award for the second time. According to her, her teammates and coaches are the reason for her great performance.
Coach Mercy Tagoe in the post match reaction revealed that, she told her players to start attack from the back and use the wings in the second half.
She also added that she received the wrong information about the Senegalese team. She urged Ghanaian fans to come and rally against them in their game.
“There is no serious injury” the former FIFA referee revealed ahead of their game on Friday against Togo.
