According to insiders in the den, Lions skipper Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been declared not fit to play Cameroon’s first of two qualifying games against Mozambique.
Sources have confirmed that the Bayern Munich man is feeling pains at the level of his muscles, plus his club Bayern Munich, wants him out of the clash, not to cause further damage.
He is the second player, of 24 to be declared forfeit for the game; earlier on, Fai Collins was replaced by Franck Boya due to health issues.
Therefore, the Indomitable Lions might step out against Mozambique on Thursday, with Vincent Aboubakar shouldering the armband.
Having made his dream move to German club Bayern Munich during the summer, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored his first FC Bayern goals in a 3-0 DFB-Pokal victory over Düren in October 2020.
Conceicao and his technical bench will have to do without Choupo’s skillset and know-how.
Choupo-Moting posseses one of the best goal per game ratio, having scored 15 in 55 games when wearing the national colours. All those will be greatly missed.
