Cameroon 2020 champions PWD of Bamenda will face Al-Ahly of Tripoli in a friendly on the 18 and 21st of November, mysoccer24.com can confirm.
The friendly has been a long time coming, and it is to better prepare these two sides for the upcoming CAF club competitions.
From further sources, the management of the Libyan club also has invited some other teams including big Tunisian and Algerian clubs, to go to the Libyan capital, Tripoli, during the next few days to hold some friendly matches.
This would be the second camping out of the nation for the Abakwa Boys. The men of David Pagou traveled to neighboring Equatorial Guinea last month, where they faced Equatoguinean juggernaut club, AS Foturo kings. The game ended on a zero-all parity.
PWD will therefore have to play their season opener against Stade Renard of Melong, early next week, before making the trip.
PWD has had by far the best preparations preseason so far. Testament to this fact, is over 13 games played, sandwiched between are international friendlies against South Sudan and Futoro Kings.
Talk about a real test prior to a CAF club competition. Al Ahly are the best club in Libya by none. The Tripoli based side are 12 time Libya champions. Al Ahly Tripoli made the quarter finals of the CAF champions League final in 2017.
This a whole too familiar scenario for the Libyan side. They played New Stars of Douala in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2018, and lost to the away goal rule (1-1).
