CAF: Ahmad Ahmad restored as president

Ahmad Ahmad has been restored back as CAF's president, on temporal bases

61_year_old Malagasy Ahmad Ahmad has been restored as president of the Confederation of African football (CAF).

According to a ruling from the court of Arbitration for sports (CAS), Ahmad will regain his rights as CAF’s president, while waiting to hear his appeal on March 02, 2021.

With his appeal for the annulation of FIFA’s decision, Ahmad Ahmad asked for provisional measures so as to present his candidacy for CAF’s presidential election scheduled for 12 March 2021. In accord with Ahmad and FIFA, CAS has put in place a procedure to accelerate and fixed a date for his appeal, on March 02 , 2021″, read a portion of the latest decision from the court of Arbitration for sports.

So CAS has temporarily suspended the decision of the ethics committee of FIFA of November 19, 2020, till the finally judgement is made.

Ahmad however is still ineligible to present his candidacy for the CAF presidency race.

On November 19, 2020, the Ethics committee of FIFA banned Ahmad Ahmad for five years from all football related activities, accusing him of offenses and breaching the codes of ethics.

During his absence, activities at CAF were handled by his vice, Constant Omari, but Ahmad will now take over, while awaiting the final decision on March 02.
