CAF has announced the dates for the draw of the final round of the African world cup qualifiers and the preliminary rounds of the TotalEnergies Africa cup of nations, Cote d’Ivoire 2023.
The preliminary round of the TotalEnergies Africa cup of nations, Cote d’Ivoire 2023 will take place in Douala, Cameroon on January 21, 2022 at 16h00 (15h00GMT, 17h00 CAT).
While, the third and final round of the African FIFA World Cup Qualifiers draw will be conducted on January 22 in Douala at 16h00.
Preliminary Round for the TotalEnergies Africa cup of nations.
The preliminary rounds will see the lowest 12 ranked teams in the continent. The 12 teams will be divided into two levels. The six highest-ranked teams will play against the six least ranked teams in a two legs, with the first leg to take place in the home of the least ranked teams.
The six successful winners will then progress to the group stage to join the 42 highest ranked teams in the continent.
Pot 1: Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana, South Sudan, Mauritius
Pot 2: Chad, Sao Tome and Principe, Djibouti, Somalia, Seychelles and Eritrea.
FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, Qatar 2022.
The ten qualifying teams have been divided into two pools based on their recent FIFA Rankings. The first leg will be played in the home of the least ranked teams.
According to the rankings published on November 19 2021 after the last round, the teams were distributed in two pots based on their rankings.
Pot 1: Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Nigeria.
Pot 2: Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali and Dr Congo.
