Al Ahly coach, Pitso Mosimane have reacted to his team’s victory over Wydad Athletic Club in the second leg semifinals that gave them the visa to this year’s CAF Champions league final.
The red devils beat Wydad 3-1 in the second leg semifinals to book their place in this year’s CAF Champions league after a 5-1 aggregate win over their Moroccan counterparts.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns gaffer reacts to the victory on Al Ahly TV after the victory.
“The Wydad match was difficult but we won after a good job, especially in Morocco and we have to finish what we started here at home”, Mosimane told Al Ahly TV.
“The good thing in both games is that we scored early goals in Morocco and in Cairo as well.
“We are currently waiting for the team that will face us in the final, but things are difficult. We only reached the final, but we still didn’t win the tournament.
Mosimane also called on fans to be patient as he still needs time to implement his philosophy.
“The fans have to be patient, I am trying to apply my philosophy and the way I will them. I see improvements in every game and we will need more time, which we don’t have enough for now”.
“In the next season, I will work on improving the performance even further. After all, I’m new here, so we have to be patient”, he added.
Al Ahly could line up against Zamalek to set up the first ever Cairo derby final in the CAF Champions league.
Zamalek on their part, beat Raja Casablanca 1-0 in their first leg semifinals and will play the return leg on Sunday November 1, 2020.
🇨🇲CAFCL : PWD reinforces squad ahead of Chiefs showdown
Sports Writer Mysoccer24.com
Five players have joined PWD’s training camp in Limbe, as the Abakwa Boys continue to fine tune preparations ahead of their CAF Champions league preliminary round game against Kaizer Chiefs.
Coach David Pagou and his boys arrived Limbe on Tuesday afternoon and had a training session in that same evening.
19 Players took part in PWD’s expedition in Tripoli last week during which they won one game and drew one, in their back to back games against Al Ahli Tripoli.
Coach Pagou has now called for reinforcement. Five players who were not part of the Libyan trip due to administrative reasons, have now joined the team in Limbe and took part in their first training session on Wednesday morning.
Fuh Klein, Maël Dindjeke, John Paul Nzo Ngong, Moluh Mohammed and Goalkeeper Raul Eya’a have now joined the squad at the Njalla Quan Sports Academy , at the Man O war Bay in Limbe. Another player, Ze Abessolo Bertrand is expected in camp in the hours ahead.
PWD will host Kaizer Chiefs at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium on Sunday, for the first leg, while the return leg will be played in South Africa on December 05, 2020.
Kaizer Chiefs is expected in Cameroon on Friday.
Pagou wins tactical battle as PWD holds up Al Ahli
Sports Writer Mysoccer24.com
Cameroon league one champions PWD Social football Club of Bamenda has played a zero all tie with Al Ahli Tripoli, in the return leg friendly, at the Tripoli International stadium on Saturday afternoon.
PWD defeated Al Ahli 2#1 in the first leg last Wednesday, and coming into Saturday’s game, coach David Pagou made a tactical shift, opting for a back four, instead of his usual back three formation.
Burinyuy Derrick was recalled into the starting XI after watching Wednesday’s game on the bench. Basile Yamkam was brought to his usual right back position, after operating at a wing forward during Wednesday’s game.
Coach Pagou choosed to sacrifice a Midfielder, Aboubakar Mohammed from his starting XI of last Wednesday, so as to accommodate four at the back. He equally preferred a more technical and pacey Enyegue François to start, while he prepared Mbah Louiz and Fegue Omgba to do the dirty job in the last quarter of the game.
As home side Al Ahli executed a whopping seven substitutions in the game, coach David Pagou stayed calm, and only brought in Fegue Omgba and Mbah Louiz in the last quarter of the game to reinforce his Midfield, sacrificing a wing forward (Tchaoua Leger) and young Midfielder, Enyegue François.
Pagou’s game plan largely centered around staying solid at the back, two holding Midfielders, Ndeh Collins and Vincent Paul Ngondi to cut off the offensive from Al Ahli, while Nchindo John Bosco, Tchaoua Leger and Billy Samin, negotiated all the counter attacks.
PWD’s back four showed great Resilience and a good reading of the game. Nyaba Brian was at the top of his game, as he made a series of goal serving tackles. Burinyuy Derrick was unbeatable in one on one duels.
Leaving Tripoli with a win and a draw from two games, it will not be an overstatement to say that David Pagou has pulled another tactical masterpiece.
Reacting to the game, coach Pagou said;
“It was a CAF standard game, so we’re happy for the results. We thank Al Ahli and the Libyian football federation for this opportunity. We will go back to Yaoundé with good memories of Libya”.
The Abakwa Boys return to Cameroon on Sunday and will immediately go camping in Limbe, ahead of their CAF Champions league preliminary round fixture against Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa.
Al Ahly T. 1-2 PWD: David Pagou Simply Did Pagou – Things Against Al Ahly
Sports Writer Mysoccer24.com-Cameroon
PWD’s thinker- man David Pagou led his boys to a narrow 1-2 victory over Al Ahly Tripoli on Wednesday November 18.
The gaffer took stern decisions, only a decided coach can make, beginning from his team selections. David Pagou, newly appointed assistant manager of the Intermediate Lions, left out captain Burinyuy Derrick. He equally played Nchindo John Bosco (creative midfielder), as an out-an-out center forward.
The gaffer then went for an uncharacteristic 3-3-3-1 formation, which crippled every ounce of the beautiful game Al Ahly Tripoli would have been hoping to showcase.
After the win, the former Cosmos and Renaissance coach told mysoccer24.com – ‘ it was a good game by the boys’.
Pagou continued: ‘after going one down, we equalised. We then did some changes at half time and increased our tempo.
‘Collins scored again like he did against Union. We are happy. We would continue preparations,’ an elated Pagou said.
Talking about the secret to victory, the gaffer then concluded on his main ingredient.
‘We defended as a block. That’s the only way we could succeed. I am happy my players Incorporated the playing style quite well’.
Coach David Pagou was away from the team for a while due to national duties, and only came back a day before his team took off to Libya.
Pagou will be looking to win the reversed fixture against Al Ahly Tripoli on Saturday, before travelling back to Cameroon the following week, to face Kaizer Chiefs.
