CAF: Constant Omari is 8 on the line of patronage

Due to the five year ban slapped on former CAF president Ahmad Ahmad, Constant Omari will temporally hold office till the next CAF Elections in over four months from now.

This, for the solemn reason that the
chamber of judgment and Independent Ethics Commission has singled out Mr. Ahmad Ahmad, president of the African Football Confederation (CAF), for having violated of the FIFA Code of Ethics.

Consequently, the judgment chamber pronounced a ban on Ahmad from all football-related activities (administrative, sports and other) at the national and international levels for a period of five years.

Mr. Ahmad Ahmad no longer has the power to exercise his responsibilities. In application of its statutes, CAF announced that Ahmad’s subordinate (Mr.
Constant Selemani Omaricas), be caretaker president.

Mr. Omari is not new in the frame. Born on January 14, 1958, he is a Congolese football administrator and a member of the FIFA Council.

Omari was appointed as the chairman of FIFA’s Task Force Against Racism and Discrimination on September 2015.

On 19 July 2019, Omari was nominated to be the first vice president of Confederation of African Football, taking over the portfolio from Amaju Pinnick.
