CAFCC: 4 Reasons Why Coton Sport Could Stage A Comeback Against JS Kabylie

Coton must not travel to Algeria with the same fear

Coton Sport will make a short trip to Algeria on Friday to face a do-or-die clash against JS Kabylie in the second leg of their 2020-21 CAF Confederation cup semi-final tie.

After getting battered 1-2 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo last Sunday, Coton Sport are left to pull off a massive comeback in the second leg.

The Garoua boys, however, have a mountain to climb if they are to make it through to the final, with JS Kabykie recording a comfortable victory in the first leg

4. Coton Sport Have Done It Before

Coton Sport know a thing or two about staging a big game having done so memorably against ASF Bobo Diolasso in 2018.
Carrying a massive 3-1 deficit from the first leg, the Garoua body seemed to be heading to their earliest exit from the CAF Champions League.

However, the likes of Kamilou Daouda who has a brace in the game and co. had other plans, netting three times in the return leg at the Military Stadium in Yaounde to wipe out the Burkina Faso Superdivision side’s formidable advantage to the the game to penalties and Coton Sport eventual won 5-3.
Perhaps, lightning could strike once again, this time in Algeria

3. Ensure that the full-backs attack JS Kabylie judiciously

Hassan and Bawak have arguably been the best full-back pairing in CAF Cup for Coton this seasons, with the Coton’s duo giving Soulemanou the best of both worlds with their ability on the flanks. However, against a side as experienced as JS Kabylie, they will need to be wary of the counter-attacking threat posed by the home team

Both players played important roles in Coton’s defeat against JS Kabylie in Yaounde

Against JS Kabylie Again, though, Coton Sport full-backs will need to concentrate for 90 minutes and try to keep a clean sheet. If the Garoua boys concede on the night, they will need to score at least two goals to have hopes of making it through to the final.

Never say never in football, but judging by Coton Sport form this 2021, they are unlikely to score two away goals against a stubborn side like JS Kabylie.

2. Have The Belief And Maintain Game Plan

Coton Sport have reached the semi-finals of the CAF confederation cup for the first time after some years but that is no reason to believe that they cannot go even further.

In order for Coton sport to overcome JS Kabylie in the return leg, they need to change their mindset. In the first leg, the team looked psychologically defeated in the way they played. Haven lost trice to the same opponent, they have nothing to loose but liberate themselves from the fear of the north Africans and play their game naturally.

JS Kabylie will start the game as favourites but Coton sports should insit on its intial gameplay (which is passing through the flanks) because it’s thanks to the flanks that the Coton weavers have been able to score goals and get to this level of the competition.

1.Start A front 3 of Souibou, Kamilo, And Araina

Coton Sport need to score a minimum of two goals to stand a chance of making it through to the CAF Confederation Cup final, so Soulemanou could be tempted to go all guns blazing in Algeria. While Sibiri Sanou and Souibou have been underwhelming this season, Lambert Araina have produced the goods regularly in front of goal.

Last Sunday, Kamilou Daouda had to settle for a place on the bench, as Francis Tombi spearheaded the Coton’s attack.

The Cameroonian tactician might be tempted to change formation and play all four of them against a depleted JS Kabylie side
