Player Ratings: PWD Bamenda 0 – Kaizer Chiefs 1 As PWD Failed At Home

Elvis Kang,

Sports Writer

After a strong match in Limbe , PWD Bamenda have a night to forget in the CAF champions league. Kaizer Chiefs came to Cameroon. with a plan and executed it well. David Pagou side gave it their all but couldn’t find the goals in the CAF champions League preliminary round

After struggling for goals in the last preseason tournament, there was a sense brewing before today’s match that the dam might be about to burst – with Kaizer Chief the victims.

That did not proved to be the case, as PWD side were beating at home at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium by 1- 0. Gavin Hunt struggling side to earn a 1-0 win.

The result means PWD will have to carry the God’s of football to South Africa to score two goals without conceding, but it was an important opportunity to capitalise on home soil but they failed on match day

Barely tested. Good distribution, reliable when called upon. However, gets extra credit for standing up well to Kazer Chiefs roughing him up at set-pieces and and a smart save at the second half

A quieter game from Nyaba, but the rest seems to have helped. A couple of energetic bursts forward troubled the Kazer Chiefs toward, and it was a nice solidity at the defense

Really impressive today. Dominant aerially and always in the right place at the right time. One of the best players on the pitch.

Did what he had to do, but was guilty of being a bit too aggressive in the first half and conceding needless free-kicks. Had and opportunities in the early minutes of the second half but short when off wide

Sloppy first 30 minutes. Pagou gave him an exasperated look after one misplaced pass. However, took his chance well, and vastly improved after that. Overall, a strong showing from the left back that should give him some confidence.

Hooked at half time but looked sharp in the first half, some incisive balls forward and protected the midfield well. Captained the rest of the second half

The midfielder worked extremely hard today and put in a decent showing at both ends of the pitch. Kept possession ticking over nicely.

The rest has done him a world of good. Played well, deserved more and unlucky not to score. On this evidence, Pagou should have given him more time on the pitch but he was substituted in the second half

Bad day in office for the newly created striker for the Pagous team. Was not actually on form in his last game against Al-Ali Tripoli. He was substituted in the second half when he was just getting better for the day. Still one of the best player for PWD

Struggled to impose himself on the game. Tidy on the ball as always and generally decent but you’d have liked the Bamenda base sticker to have offered a bit more. He was substituted in the second half

Similar to Ncgindo, the playmaker was relatively quiet. Missed a good chance early on but redeemed himself with a penalty before it was missed. His movement off the ball continues to impress.
