The head coach of PWD Social football Club of Bamenda David Pagou, has insisted that football is on the pitch, as his side prepares to face South African giants, Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF champions league preliminary round.

The current champions of the Cameroon Elite one championship were drawn against Chiefs, following the draw for the preliminary round of the CAF interclub competitions, that took place in Cairo, Egypt on Monday.

Reacting to the draw, David Pagou admitted it is a tough pairing, but says his boys are hyper motivated for the challenge.

A very difficult draw but you know at a certain moment we don’t have a choice. We are facing Kaizer Chiefs, one of the most titled and Supported club in South Africa, but we are also the most popular club in our region. With the palmarès of Kaizer Chiefs, you know that it is a mythical club so naturally they’re favourites. We were waiting for an opponent in the CAF champions league and it happens to be Kaizer Chiefs. It is an heavyweight but it is football, we will try to be who we are and play our football“, David Pagou told PWD’s communication department.

“It is a tie played home and away and anything can happen. The away game will be played here so we have to do everything possible to score goals and why not win the game. As I always say Ndamba na for field. We will play our football, without any complex. I think these kind of opponents are an extra motivation for our players”, Pagou added.

The tactician also revealed that he has given his players an assignment, to carry out personal research on their opponents.

” We will be motivated as group and see if we can spring a surprise. Everything is possible in football”.

PWD emerged winners of the 2019_2020 Cameroon Elite one championship, when the league was declared ended by the Cameroon FA, in May 2020. The Abakwa Boys had 47 points, just one point ahead of cotonsport of Garoua. The North West outfit returns to continental football for the first time in 14 years.

The preliminary round is expected to begin in the weekend 27–29 November 2020 for the first leg, while the second leg are programmed on 4–6 December 2020.
