CAFCL: PWD to face Kaizer Chiefs in the preliminary round

Cameroon league one champions, PWD Social club of Bamenda will face south African giants Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF champions league preliminary round.

The Draw for the 2020_2021 CAF champions league and Confederation cup preliminary and first round, took place this Monday 9 November 2020 in Cairo, Egypt, via Visioconference.

PWD Social football Club of Bamenda will be making their maiden appearance in the CAF champions league. The team returns to continental football for the first time after 14 years, since they last featured in the CAF Confederation cup in 2004.

That year, the Abakwa Boys overpowered TP Mazembe in the first round but exited in the second round losing 5-2 on aggregate, to AS Douanes of senegal.

Coach David Pagou and his boys will be going full swing into the competition, as they target getting into the group stage of the competition.

The winner of the PWD vs Kaizer Chiefs tie will face 1° Agosto of Angola in the second round.

PWD emerged winners of the 2019_2020 Cameroon Elite one championship, when the league was declared ended by the Cameroon FA, in May 2020. The Abakwa Boys had 47 points, just one point ahead of cotonsport of Garoua.

The preliminary round is expected to begin in the weekend 27–29 November 2020 for the first leg, while the second leg are programmed on 4–6 December 2020.
