Cairo to host Total CAF Super Cup.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed Cairo as host of the 2020 Total CAF Super Cup.

The competition which was to take place in Doha,  Qatar between 14-16 August will no longer be a reality base on the joint coordination between CAF and the Qatar FA regarding the agenda of sporting events.

The competition that was founded 29 years ago by CAF is traditionally played between the winner of the CAF Champions league and the winner of the CAF Confederation Cup will now take place in the Egyptian capital,  Cairo as earlier revealed by Egyptian FA boss, Amr El-Ganainy.

The president of the Qatar FA, SHK Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmad Al-Thani said: “We are happy to have been able to reach this agreement with CAF.  Hosting the Total CAF Super Cup is a great moment for us, and we must give ourselves every chance to make it a memorable event in consonance with our track record of hosting world class events. Based on the African and Qatari sports calendars,  the conditions will be right for another exception edition of this competition to be staged in Qatar”

CAF President,  Mr. Ahmad wished to “express his gratitude to the QFA as well as to the authorities of the country for their unfailing commitment alongside the CAF and the preparatory work already carried out.  CAF will work closely with the host Association to make the 2020 Total CAF Super Cup a success”.

It should be noted that CAF are currently deciding on a date for the super cup ahead of the CAF Champions League final.
