Cameroon Enjoy 100% Start To An AFCON Tournament Since 2006.

The indomitable lions of Cameroon seems to be in a dream land, as they are enjoying a 100% start to an AFCON tournament since the 2006 edition,  when they won their first two group matches.

Captain,  Vincent Aboubakar and his teammates demolished the Walia Ibex of Ethiopia 4-1 in their second group of the 33rd AFCON,  enabling them to get immediate qualification to the round of 16.

The win against Ethiopia means the indomitable Lions of Cameroon have won their first two matches of an AFCON tournament since 2006.

In 2006, the lions had vibrant team led by charismatic captain Rigobert Song and one of the most deadly strikers of his generation Samuel Eto’o.

That year, the lions won all group games, defeating Angola 3-1 in the opening match,  followed by a 2-0 win over Togo and then a 2-0 win over Dr Congo in the last day.

Since then, the lions have never won their first two group games in a an AFCON tournament in the five previous editions, which they’ve qualified.

Third Match: Cameroon 3-0 Sudan

AFCON 2010

First match: Cameroon 0-1 Gabon

Second Match: Cameroon 3-2 Zambia

Third Match: Cameroon 2-2 Tunisia


AFCON 2015

First match: Mali 1-1 Cameroon

Second Match: Cameroon 1-1 Guinea

Third Match: Cameroon 0-1 Cote d’Ivoire

AFCON 2017

First match: Cameroon 1-1 Burkina Faso

Second Match: Cameroon 2-1 Guinea Bissau

Cameroon 0-0 Gabon

AFCON 2019

First match: Cameroon 2-0 Guinea Bissau

Second Match: Cameroon 2-2 Ghana

Third Match: Benin 0-0 Cameroon

The lions defeated the Ethiopians  4-1 with Karl Toko and Vincent Aboubakar scoring two goals each. Dawa scored the lone goal for Ethiopia.

Next stop for Cameroon,  as they look forward to finish top of their  group since 2006.
