The under 17 Lions of Cameroon have been crowned champions of the 5th edition of the UNNIFAC tournament on Thursday in Yaoundé.
It is the second time the historic football nation records success in this competition.This time around on home soil,the boys of Thomas Libih were better than the rest adding to their list of wins in the 10 days tournament a 1 nil win over Democratic republic of Congo in the final.
Cameroon enjoyed life at home as host in the 6 nations tournament recording wins in 3 of their 4 games,netting 5 goals and conceding 2.
The 38th minutes goal for Cameroon by Moctar improves the nation’s 3rd place finish recorded in the 2017 tournament in Congo Republic giving coach Thomas Libih a bright start as boss of the baby Lions.
The next task for coach Thomas and his kids will be thr Tanzania-2019 tournament qualifiers in August against Democratic Republic of Congo.
Cameroon duo,Moctar Oumate was voted the most valuable player of the tournament while Amah Awono Joel ended the tournament as the best scorer with 2 goals.
