The 8th day of Cameroon’s League 1 championship was not favourable to Eding Sport. The club from La la lekie division was warming up for a first home win of the season while facing group B leaders, Stade Renard of Melong.
Everything had started well as Eding Sports opened scores at the 37th minute by Ako Assomo from the penalty spot. They will go on to have a second goal opportunity at the 44th minute when Beo Batto found himslef face to face with goalkeeper Yannick Letize Epane Epane of Stade Renard but will squander the opportunity shooting off target
Stade Renard will have several opportunities to even score before half-time but naivity and over confidence will fail Yann Same Same and mates. The 2nd half will see Stade Renard come back to the pitch of play with more determination and the entry of Sindjo Brice Edmond will give more oxygen and vivacity to the Renard attack line, putting pressure on the opposing defense. Eding Sport will finally crack down at the 72nd minute with an equalizer from Stade Renard by Yann Same Same who hit the ball in the back of the net after a corner which resulted in a scramble for the ball in Eding’s defense.
Eding Sport will be distraught and will not have the mental capacity to rise up again.
A 1-1 draw that does not reflect the ambitions of Eding Sport that stagnates in the bottom of the league standings with 7 points but reinforces Stade Renard at the head of Group B with 11 points.
