The indomitable lions of Cameroon are in camp in Yaounde to prepare for the double confrontation against the Super eagles of Nigeria for the Russia 2018 qualifiers. Among the 23 professionals called up for this confrontation, are 3 goalkeepers; Fabrice Ondoua, Georges Bokwe and Jules Goda. All these goalkeepers happen to be “substitutes” in thier various clubs;

Weekend club performances

Fabrice Ondoua, the wonder kid is still “warming up” the reserve bench of FC Serville B which lost 1-2 at home against Valladolid this past weekend.

Georges Bokwe, substitute of Mjondalen FC equally watched his club being beaten by Sarrpsborg 1-2.

Jules Goda has been absent from the pitch of play. The Cameroonian goalkeeper terminated his contract with AC Ajaccio, a French second division club. He’s in search of greener pastures…

All these misfortunes of Cameroonian goalkeepers are not a hindrance to their performances when it comes to the national team.

André onana, The paradox

On a paradoxical note, Andre Onana, who’s regular with Ajax Amsterdam has turned down the invitation to join the indomitable lions ahead of these qualifiers for Russia 2018. The 21 years old goalkeeper prefers to focus on his club side rather than being a “substitute” in the indomitable lions of Cameroon.

Fabrice Ondoa will eventually be the first choice of Cameroon’s national coach Hugo Broos and is set to reiterate the great performances known to him at the 2017 Gabon AFCON where he saved the indomitable lions on several decisive actions.
