Former Cameroon international “goal accountant” Samuel Eto’o says Cameroon will be ready to host the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations as he believes Cameroon has all what it takes to host Africa’s most prestigious football tournament.
The former Barcelona striker has praised the Cameroonian authorities and the Cameroonian people for their brilliant collective efforts to see the competition vibrates on Cameroonian soil come next year.
Though the great triangle was to host the CHAN in April this year, the competition was postponed indefinitely due to COVID–19 pandemic but the former Inter Milan striker believes Cameroon will deliver the best AFCON ever due to the world class infrastructure that have been put in place in the country.
“Cameroon is a unique country, its a football country. The only regret I can have is that I cannot participate in the tournament as a football player”, Eto’o to RFI.
“We have nothing to envy today in certain European countries. Today, my young brothers have the infrastructures. We will do everything to make them ready to offer us one of the most beautiful AFCON ever organized.
“But the one that is beautiful for us will be the one we will win. Cameroon will be ready for AFCON. Cameroon already has everything to host AFCON”.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations is set to take place in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, 2021 but with the presence of COVID–19 pandemic, couple with the fact that four more rounds of the qualifiers are still to be played; the competition might not be played in January and February next year.
