Just some minutes before the ritual of the CAF anthem and chanting of the national anthems, boom, there came dark clouds perhaps abruptly switching the atmosphere from a football game, to that of a musical, hip-hop concert, at the Douala Reunification Stadium.
In the second group C game pitting Rwanda against Uganda, the Reunification Stadium went dark about five minutes to kickoff time (7:55 pm) Central African Time.
Darkness reigned for a while before the game could Kickstart but the incident indeed looked a sorry – tale with invitees from countries in action.
Power supply has not been in any way stable since the start of the competition in all host cities: Buea/Limbe, Douala and Yaounde.
The game however, started as earmarked and is ongoing. Tournament favorites and Cup holders Morocco celebrated a hard fought victory (1-0) over Togo early in the day.
A thumping score – line situation by either Rwanda or Uganda automatically gives either of the teams an ‘Aristotle’ hook of their group.
