“Football has once more shown that you can concede as many goals as you score if you’re not careful ”
These words from Micho, Zambia coach, sums up his match against Niger this afternoon at Stade Omnisports annex 1 Yaounde in the Chan preparatory tournament (Mini-Chan).
Zambia led three times in the match which ended in an incredible 3-3 draw. They only needed 6 minutes to score thanks to Collins Sikombe, but the joy was short-lived as Djibrilla Issa equalized for Niger 7 minutes later (1-1, 13′). Moses Phiri and Sikombe again believe they are securing Zambia by bringing the score to (2-1, 37 ‘) and (3-1, 59’) respectively.
François NGOUMOU, former coach of Dragon and Colombe FC (Elite 1 Cameroon) is impressed by the Zambian superiority and tactical skill, but their weakness is quickly revealed, the sufficiency. Djibrilla Issa logically reduce the score (3-2.67 ‘) directly from a corner before his namesake Issa Adamou equalize (3-3, 79’) on a second ball after the corner.
Micho’s diagnosis at the end of the match is revealing: “we conceded 3 goals from set pieces, something that has always been our weakness and we will continue work on it”
