The head coach coach of the intermediate Lions, Martin Ndtongou Mpile says he is happy and satisfied with his team 2-1 win over Djibouti.
The intermediate Lions outplayed Djibouti 2-1 in an international friendly in preparation for the upcoming African Nations Championship to be held in Cameroon next January 2021.
Djibouti took the lead as Mahamond Doualem scored the game’s opener from close range but two quick goals from PWD’s Basile Yankam and Ebembe Elimbi sealed a 2-1 win for Coach Martin Ndtongou’ s troops.
The 62 year-old was satisfied after a brilliant comeback against Djibouti.
“I am satisfied that we won the game. It’s a new team and I think we have so many things to work on. We are going to do it during the training sessions. We are going back to the errors we did today and I think that next time we are going to do better”, Ndtongou said after the game.
It should be noted that Martin Ndtongou has now recorded two wins and one draw since he succeeded Clement Arroga as coach of the intermediate Lions.
The reversed fixture between the two teams will come up still in Cameroon on November 12, 2020.
CHAN Preps: Djibouti Lets Lead Slide To Inconsistent Cameroon
Djibouti shared the spoils once more with the Intermediate Lions after having taken the lead on Thursday November 12, 2020.
This was the reserved fixture of the CHAN preparations game against these two, after cameroon had come from behind to beat Djibouti 2-1, on November 9.
Martin Ndtongou Mpile set up with a 4-3-3 formation, starting with;
Goalkeeper : Dande junior
Defenders: youssoufa houzaifi, yamkam À Mbouri, Banga , Pendant.
Midfielders : Meyoupo, Onana et Tchuenté.
Forwards : Ako’o , Boyomo, Nlend.
Despite the gaffer repeating some names in his starting 11, and trying to stabilise the squad, his side still looked inconsistent, and at times, incapacitated.
Djibouti, just like on November 9, took the lead through Mourad Abdoulkader in the first half.
It looked a certain victory for the outsiders, until a Certain Serge Andolou came on later in the game to convert a penalty, deep into the second half for Cameroon.
It is outrageous how the intermediate Lions have had these ‘back and forth movements,’ under her new gaffer.
Ndtongou Mpile has drawn two, and won another two in his first four games this far. Simply not good enough for a team hosting the African Nations Championship in January.
Pre CHAN Friendly: Intermediate Lions Come From One Down To Defeat Djibouti
Sports Writer Mysoccer24.com-Cameroon
The Intermediate Lions of Cameroon came from one down to defeat Djibouti, in the first of two friendlies – today at the Yaounde Omnisports stadium.
It was a goal fest in the first segment, with Djibouti first getting the better of Cameroon.
The visitors first opened scores with Doualem Mahamoud, before two goals in quick succession from Basile Yamkam and Francis Elimbi, changed the game’s narrative.
After recording two assists in the den, Yamkam was the most unlikeliest of goalscorers on the day for team Cameroon.
Francis Elimbi struck before the end of the first half to seal the deal. That was the Stade Renard forward’s second in his first camping session.
A second half filled with caution; each team fearing the other’s strike power, the two teams kind of settled for the 2-1 score, Djibouti quitting to fight another day
The reversed fixture for coach Martin Ndtongou Mpile and lads still in Cameroon, comes up on thursday, November 12, 2020.
Intermediate lions: Ndtoungou Mpile’s sweeping process begins, four in, four out
Sports Writer Mysoccer24.com
The head coach of the intermediate lions of Cameroon Martin Ndtoungou Mpile, has summoned four players to camp, as they continue preparations for the African Nations championship.
PWD’s center back, Ngwang Brian Nyaba, who was sent packing from the squad by former Coach Yves Clement Arroga, has been recalled, while Thierry Tchuente who returned back to the country and joined cotonsport, has also been drafted into the squad. Tchuente was part of the intermediate lions’ early campings, before leaving for CS Chebba.
Two players have been invited into the den for the first time. Cotonsport’s wing forward, Marou Souaibou who has been in scintillating form in preseason, has been handed his maiden called up, just like Stade Renard’s Keumi Steve Roberts.
Reports also indicates that Martin Ndtoungou Mpile has sent four players packing from the squad. Eding Sport’s center back, Yves Alain Dooh Moukoko, Cotonsport’s Midfielder, Yannick Ebongue, Fortuna’s Banbe Thierry and Djiko FC’s Jacques Elogue Kelvin, have been sent back to their various club’s.
The intermediate lions have been in their first training camp under Martin Ndtoungou Mpile for a week now. The experience tactician was brought in to replace Yves Clement Arroga, who was shown the door following a series of unconvincing results.
The Ndtoungou Mpile led technical staff preferred to start working with the 28 man squad summoned by Yves Clement Arroga, but have now started their own revamp. Ebongue Yannick, Dooh Moukoko, and Banbe Thierry, have attended most of the intermediate lions’ campings, but are now facing the same faith like Mark O’ojong Nkongo, Etta Bawak, Rene Ndi, Nguede Nguede, Arouna Dang, and Ndeh Collins, who were sent home midway into the previous training camp, and are yet to be recalled.
The intermediate lions on Saturday recorded their first win of the Ndtoungou Mpile’s era, with a 2#1 win over Canon of yaounde, thanks to goals for Samuel Nlend and Francis Elimbi.
