A list of 23 players was published yesterday evening by the head coach of the intermediate Lions of Cameroon; Rigobert Song B. Song a former indomitable Lion,winner of two AFCON titles from 8 participation and Cameroon’s all time most capped player(137 caps) published the list after weeks of intense training and keen observation of the 25 players in friendly games and in qualifiers.
Cameroon Eliminated Sao Tome et Principe in the last round of the qualifiers to qualify for the tournament billed to take place in Morocco in the month of January and February 2018.
The final list of players for the tournament is without the name of Lionel Abate of AS Fortuna (Top scorer in the league two championship in the just ended season) and without former Cotonsport forward Souleymanou Moussa who was in the CHAN 2016 in Rwanda. Moussa was left out of the 23 because he signed a contract in the month of October with Zanaco of Zambia making him ineligible for selection for the championship.
22 year old MTN elite one top scorer last season Francis Elimbi made the list amidst issues surrounding his recent transfer from Aigle to Apejes.
Defender Serge Andoulo and forward Patrick Moukoko have signed for Cotonsport of Garoua while duo Willy Nnameji and David Etoo now are Eding’s New recruits.
The only player in the 23 man shortlist to have experienced the tournament is back up goalkeeper Anye Fru Derrick of Union Sportive of Douala who was there in 2016.

The players have been listed as per the clubs they featured for last season.Union Mouvement Sportive(UMS) of Loum and Union Sportive Douala(USD) both Littoral clubs have 4 players in the squad while 2017 league Eding FC have 3 players in the squad.
The squad will have the last training session in Cameroon this morning ahead of their trip to Morocco billed for the 1st of January 2018 at 5:00 A.M.
While in Morocco the team is expected to play 3 friendly games against Guinea Conakry in Rabat,host nation Morocco in Casablanca and Uganda in Rabat.The friendly games are programmed for 3rd,6th and 9th of January respectively.
The 3 weeks tournament kicks off on the the 13th of January(Morocco VS Mauritania)to run to the 4th of February.
Cameroon is in group D and engage in the competition fully on the 16th of January 2018 with a game against Congo Brazzaville in Agadir(7:30 P.M)before games against Angola at the same venue 4 days later in a remake of a 2016 group stage meeting.Cameroon play her last group game on the 24 against Burkina faso still in Agadir.
Song’s and his boys have as target to go beyond Cameroon’s best ever CHAN performance in her two previous participation which is a quarter final place but they must earned their success amongst the following nations;
