Complete Fixture Of Cameroon’s Under-21s At The CAVB Tourney In Egypt

After having been given a glorious send-off by the Cameroon Volleyball Federation, the Cameroon’s Under-21 team arrived Egypt on Friday Morning and have already been taking part in routine training sessions.

Cameroon faces an uphill task but during the reign of President Serge Abouem, the different set-up’s have provided some sensational performances to lift championships on the continent, and represent Africa in world championships.

First up for team Cameroon on Saturday 20 are Morocco, after which the junior volleyball Lions will pit hosts Egypt on February 22 and later Congo DR on February 24.

Tunisia are considered the big absentees as they are the record holders in this age with 10 titles under their name. They are one of 4 countries gaining the title before along with Egypt (4 times), Algeria (3) and Morocco (1).

This competition is the first volleyball event in Africa since January 2020 due to spread of Covid-19 pandemic after CAVB Board decision headed by Mrs Bouchra Hajij to resume the African volleyball activity from February 2021.

Flashback to when Cameroon emerged victorious at the African Women’s volleyball Championship in Egypt (2019)

  • Cameroon has never won at this competition but Egypt as hosts is a big boost. Remember The Volleyball Lionesses picked up gold against Kenya at the African Women’s volleyball Championship, last two years in Cairo, Egypt.
