Day Five of the ongoing elite one football championship, have been played today April 3 in stadia across the country. 13 goals were scored in 9 out of the 10 programmed matches. The match between Coton Sport and UMS of Loum was postponed. Only Eding, Union, Canon, and Astres recorded home wins, while only Stade Renard recorded an away win, with 4 draws recorded.
Pool A leaders, AS Fortuna of Mfou extend their unbeaten run to the new campaign to five matches, after a 0-0 draw with Dragon of Yaounde at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium. AS Fortuna have now recorded 3 wins and two draws, harvesting 11 points, while Dragon have just one point in three matches.
In Bamenda, PWD of Bamenda were also held to a 0-0 by visiting Bamboutos of Mbouda at the Yong Sports Academy Arena. This is the first game for the Abakwa boys since the tragic incident, which led to the burning of their team bus. They have recorded five points so far from three matches, while Bamboutos have 3wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat so far.
Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda also extended their unbeaten run at home to 25 games. The yellow submarines were held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Apejes of Mfou. They have now harvested 4 points in 4 matches, while Apejes have 8 points in five matches. It should be noted that YOSA is undefeated at home in 25 home matches (12 wins and 13 draws).
At the Caf excellent center in Mbankomo, Canon Sportif of Yaounde beat Panthere of Nde 2-0 in what is their third successive home win of the campaign. Goals from Jeffery Nyobe and David Ngondo were enough to see the boys of Mikreo Birwe grab all three points.
