Exclusive: 2017 cup of Cameroon winner Eric Enjenwei Api joins les Astres of Douala

Free agent since the expiration of his New Stars contract after the 2017 cup of Cameroon finals win over UMS Loum,API Eric has elected to change his work place in the Littoral Region by signing for Astres of Douala from New Stars of the same City.

The 21 years old full back who enjoyed a brilliant second season with New Stars featuring in 26 games with 21 starts and played a big part in helping New Stars land their first piece of silverware this year. (9 years after the club was created).

The versatile defender who is considered by most of his peers as a “Little big man” was pivotal in some of New Stars big games this season including New Stars derby win over Union Sportive Douala at the Douala Re unification stadium and the cup of Cameroon semi final 2 nil win over Victoria United where he featured for 90 minutes.

The native of Momo division in the North west region of Cameroon who has once recieved a national called up into the Olympic Lions Den has agreed a temporal contract at Astres with a maximum duration to take it to August 2018.

On Tuesday,The players representaves met Astres officials after much efforts by Astres officials for terms and conditions to be discussed.After a lengthy meeting,it emerged that the prolific defender will resume training on Thursday(today at 9:00A.M ) under the guidance of New boss Olivier Nankam who has return to the region where he won the cup of Cameroon(UMS-2015) after a wonderful time in the south region working for Colombe.

Api a bright young lad, is expected by to replicate his last season form at New Stars for the followers of “Les Brazilian of Bepanda” in the upcoming campaign.

Les Astres will be looking forward to better their 41 points tally of last season and why not improve their league placing at the end of next season.

API a graduate of the Brassseries academy joins New signing Nia Andres who joined the club last week to rebuild Bapanda’s love for their darling club next season.
