Coach Akwesi Appiah, Black Stars head coach has refused to abide an order by the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo.
An unconfirmed report gathered by MySoccer24.com reveals that Kwesi Appiah having rescinded in his decision to take off the Black stars captaincy from Asamoah Gyan, has chosen to standstill. Despite, appointing Gyan in October 2012 to take over from John Mensah.
On Monday, Kayerispor forward Asamoah Gyan released a statement of retiring from the senior national team of Ghana over the issue of captaincy. Following that, the President of the land, H.E Nana Addo Dankwah invited the player with the Black Stars technical team and the Management team to settle the dispute of captainship, been handed to former U-20 skipper Andre Dede Ayew.
After several hours of meeting at the flagstaff house, information coming from the Flagstaff house smells that, the President has ordered the hand-band to be given to Asamoah Gyan ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Kwesi Appiah to the stand of the President, has also threaten to quit his position as the Black Stars trainer should Gyan be given the hand band.
Should this be anything to go by, 33-year-old striker, Asamoah Gyan will return to the national team as the captain.
It is barely thirty-three (33) days left for the commencement of the 32nd edition of the Total AFCON, set to be held in Egypt.
The tournament is slated for June 21- July 17.
